This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which My LowPro Pal collects, uses, maintains, and discloses information collected from users (each, a “User”) of the My LowPro Pal mobile application (“App”).
This Privacy Policy applies to the App and all products and services offered by My LowPro Pal and the Metabolic Dietary Disorders Association (MDDA).
Personal Identification Information
We may collect personal identification information from Users in various ways, including, but not limited to, when Users register on the App, subscribe to a newsletter, complete a form, use features within the App, and in connection with other activities, services, features, or resources we make available through the App.
Users may be asked for, as appropriate, their name, email address, mailing address, phone number, and other information required to provide the App’s services.
Users may, however, use certain features of the App without providing personal identification information. Users can always refuse to supply personal identification information, except that this may prevent them from engaging in certain App-related activities or accessing certain features.
Where Users enter information relating to their dietary requirements, health, nutritional intake, or other information associated with managing an inborn error of metabolism, this information will be treated as personal information and handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable Australian privacy laws.
Non-personal Identification Information
We may collect non-personal identification information about Users whenever they interact with our App.
Non-personal identification information may include the device type, operating system, App version, browser or technical information, and other similar information relating to how Users access and interact with the App.
We may also collect technical and usage information to help us understand how the App is used, identify technical issues, improve App functionality, and maintain the security and performance of the App.
How We Use Collected Information
My LowPro Pal may collect and use Users’ personal information for the following purposes:
To provide and improve the App
We may use information to provide the features and services available through the App, maintain and improve the App, troubleshoot technical issues, and understand how Users use the services and resources provided through the App.
To personalise the User experience
We may use information in aggregate, and where appropriate individual information, to understand how Users use the services and resources provided through our App and to improve the User experience.
To communicate with Users
We may use a User’s email address to respond to inquiries, questions, requests, or other communications.
If a User chooses to opt in to our mailing list, they may receive emails about MDDA news, updates, events, services, and other relevant information. Users may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions included in the relevant email or by contacting MDDA at office@mdda.org.au.
How We Protect Your Information
We adopt appropriate data collection, storage, and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of your personal information, username, password, transaction information, and other data stored or processed through our App.
While we take reasonable steps to protect information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of information.
Sharing Your Personal Information
We do not sell, trade, or rent Users’ personal identification information to others.
We may share de-identified information with trusted service providers, contractors, technology providers, or other organisations where reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, secure, support, or improve the App and provide its services.
Where appropriate, these third parties may only use personal information for the purposes for which it has been provided or as otherwise permitted by law.
We may also share generic aggregated or de-identified information that is not linked to personal identification information with business partners, trusted affiliates, researchers, or other organisations for purposes such as understanding App usage, improving services, research, reporting, and program development.
We may disclose personal information where required or authorised by law, including where necessary to comply with legal obligations or protect the rights, safety, or property of MDDA, Users, or others.
Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the App and its services, maintain appropriate business and administrative records, comply with legal and regulatory obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and protect the security of the App.
Where personal information is no longer required for these purposes, we will take reasonable steps to securely delete, destroy, or de-identify the information in accordance with applicable laws and our data management practices.
Some information may need to be retained for a longer period where required by law or where it is reasonably necessary for legitimate administrative, legal, security, or record-keeping purposes.
Data Deletion and Requests for Access
Users may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal information held by My LowPro Pal or MDDA.
To request deletion of your personal information or App account, please contact MDDA at:
Email: office@mdda.org.au
Please include your name, the email address associated with your My LowPro Pal account, and a clear statement that you are requesting deletion of your personal information and/or account.
We may need to verify the identity of the person making a request before processing it.
Upon receiving and verifying a deletion request, we will take reasonable steps to delete the User’s personal information and/or account, subject to any information that we are required or permitted to retain by law or that is reasonably necessary for legitimate legal, security, fraud-prevention, or record-keeping purposes.
Deletion of an account or personal information may result in the User losing access to certain App features or services.
Children’s Privacy
My LowPro Pal may be used by or on behalf of children and families managing dietary requirements associated with inborn errors of metabolism.
Where a parent, guardian, or carer provides information about a child, that information will be handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable privacy laws.
Parents or guardians may contact MDDA at office@mdda.org.au to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information relating to their child.

When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage Users to check this page periodically for any changes and to stay informed about how we protect the personal information we collect.
Your continued use of the App following the posting of changes to this Privacy Policy may constitute acceptance of those changes, where permitted by law.
